Frequently Asked Questions
At MAGRABi we offer two types of eye tests; our regular eye test (M Test) and our new premium Eye Wellness test. The M Test is a standard screening for prescription lens fittings, while the premium Eye Wellness test is a more thorough process which includes 7 different screenings as well as our new Vision Simulation process. We also offer an RTA test in the UAE, as well as Contact Lens Fittings in KSA and UAE.
The M Test is the standard screening which includes testing visual acuity, refraction, slit lamp, pupil responses, and a retina/optic nerve exam. The M Test is also free for MAGRABi customers.
The premium Eye Wellness test, which costs 150 SAR includes a thorough eye testing process that consists of 7 screenings that provide deeper insights into eye health, personalized protection, and advanced lens solutions as well as a Vision Simulation process.
The Eye Wellness Test screenings are as follows:
CATARACT SCREENING: Screens for any opacity in the lens of the eye – an early sign of cataract, especially if it is age-related.
ANTERIOR EYE SCREENING: Checks the front part of the eye for possible eye conditions like Glaucoma, as well as any physiological measures, ensuring the client receives the most personalized and advanced lens solutions for their glasses (if required).
EYE STRAIN SCREENING: Tests for any eye strain for near-sighted tasks. If detected, the optometrist will conduct further examination to ensure the best solution or lens for the client, to help relieve this fatigue.
NIGHT VISION SCREENING: Assesses the quality of the client’s vision to ensure the right solution for them—either special glasses for night driving, or customized lenses for the best possible vision, especially at night.
GLAUCOMA SCREENING: Screens for Glaucoma, a condition that impacts the nerve at the back of the eye.
CORNEA SCREENING: Gives information and a curvature mapping of the front surface of the eye called the cornea, providing insights and possible indicators to certain eye conditions like Keratoconus.
OBJECTIVE REFRACTION: This is an objective prescription taken as part of the initial screening. This is not the final prescription.
VISION SIMULATION SCREENING: Immerses the client in a full vision simulation experience with a screening that shows them what their vision will be with the new prescription.
The Eye Wellness test also includes more in-depth consultation time, more personalized lens/frame recommendations, and features like checking peripheral vision, contrast sensitivity, or color vision in greater detail.

Here are a few compelling reasons to choose the premium Eye Wellness test:
• Early detection: Advanced tests pick up eye diseases (glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy) earlier, before symptoms.
• Comprehensive Health Check: More thorough screening even if you don’t have vision complaints.
• Better Accuracy and Comfort: Better equipment, more precise prescriptions, better lens fittings, and fewer follow-ups.
• Catering to Different Lifestyles: If you work a lot with screens, drive at night, or have sensitivity to glare, the Eye Wellness test can address these specific issues.
• Peace of Mind: Knowing your vision and eye health have been checked deeply, not just the basics puts you at ease.
• Long-term Savings: Catching issues early can reduce the costs of treatments later. Also, better lenses/coatings may reduce discomfort or the need for replacements.
Eye tests are essential for disease detections and choosing the correct lenses with the correct vision for your eyeglasses or contact lenses. For each life stage, the frequency of eye tests should be as follows:
• For children (infants / toddlers / young children) with no vision problems: Every 1 to 2 years
• For teens (below 15 years): every 3 to 6 months, depending on development or eye condition
• For adults: Generally once a year or sooner if there are changes in vision or eye health
• For adults over 65: Annual exams are especially emphasized due to increased risk of eye issues
Also note that, for healthy adults aged between 18 to 60, an eye test every two years is recommended unless risk factors dictate more frequent exams.
An eye test can detect far more than just changes in vision or the need for glasses, our Eye Wellness test can also detect:
1. Refractive Errors such as:
- Near-sightedness (myopia)
- Far-sightedness (hyperopia)
- Astigmatism (blurred or distorted vision)
- Presbyopia (age-related difficulty focusing on close objects)
These determine whether you need glasses or contact lenses — and the exact prescription strength
2. Eye Health Conditions such as:
- Cataracts – clouding of the lens that causes blurred vision.
- Glaucoma – damage to the optic nerve often due to high eye pressure.
- Macular degeneration – deterioration of the central retina affecting fine vision.
- Dry eye disease and corneal issues – common in digital device users.
- Retinal detachment or tears – identified via advanced retinal imaging.
3. Early Signs of Systemic Diseases such as:
- Diabetes (diabetic retinopathy)
- Hypertension (changes in retinal blood vessels)
- High cholesterol (visible deposits in the retinal arteries)
- Autoimmune disorders and even neurological issues (like optic neuritis)
4. Digital Vision and Lifestyle-Related Stress
MAGRABi’s premium screening also assesses:
- Blue-light sensitivity
- Eye strain from screen exposure
- Tear film quality and ocular surface balance
- Overall visual performance and comfort
Here’s how you can prepare for your eye test; because our eye health deserves the best care — and preparation helps you get the most from your visit.
Before your appointment, bring your current glasses or contact lenses, note any changes in your vision, and share your medical history or medications with our specialists. We also recommend removing your contact lenses at least two hours before the test and giving your eyes some rest from screens.
During your visit, our experts will guide you through a series of advanced vision and health checks. If your pupils are dilated, you may want to bring sunglasses for comfort. The process is smooth, comprehensive, and takes around 30 to 60 minutes.
After your test, you’ll receive a detailed report and expert recommendations tailored to your vision and lifestyle.
The MAGRABi eye test result is valid for one year from the date of the test.
