Can I use my glasses prescription for ordering contacts and vice versa?
Glasses prescriptions and contact lens prescriptions are different. Contact lenses sit directly on the cornea and require specific measurements and specifications not covered by a standard glasses prescription. To ensure the best fit and vision correction, you’ll need a separate prescription for each.
How do I measure my frame size?
Simply use a ruler to measure, in mm (millimeters), your features according to the below guide:
The frame width:
Measure the entire horizontal front of the frame (from the outermost edge of both ends)
Approx. 40mil - 62mil
The bridge:
The distance in between lenses (the part that covers the bridge of your nose)
Approx. 14mil - 24mil
The temple piece:
The length of the temple piece (also known as the arm piece that rests behind your ear)
Approx. 120mil - 150mil
Alternatively, you can use our Virtual Try-On feature to measure your frame size accurately.
How do I pick the right frame for my face shape?
With so many designs to choose from at MAGRABi, knowing which frame suits you best will bring out your unique facial contours.
Face a mirror and take a close look to see which of the following face shapes matches yours: round, square, oval, heart or diamond.
Round-shaped faces are relatively equal in width and length. They look great in frames that add extra depth and definition - we're talking bold angular frames such as cat-eye.
Square-shaped faces are widest at the jaw and forehead. They look more defined in round frames that soften the face's strong angular features.
Oval-shaped faces feature softly wider and higher cheekbones. People with this face shape can easily pull off almost any style, especially wide oversized frames — square, trapezoid, and rectangular.
Heart-shaped faces are widest at the forehead, along with higher cheekbones and a narrow chin. They look brightest and best in thin round and oval-shaped frames.
Diamond-shaped faces are characterized by full cheeks and narrow forehead and jawline. That's why oval frames are best as they balance this shape's unique features.
You can always use our face type filter to find the perfect frame for you.

What do Spherical, Cylindrical, Axis, and PD values mean in my eyeglasses prescription?
Spherical or Sphere (SPH) refers to the main correction in the prescription. Minus (-) values are for nearsightedness, and Plus (+) values are for farsightedness. If ""PL"" or ""Plano"" is written for the SPH value on your prescription, you should select a value of 0.00.
Cylindrical or Cylinder (CYL) refers to a correction for astigmatism. It can be either positive (+) or negative (-). A Cylindrical value will always have an Axis value. If ""DS"" or ""SPH"" is noted in the CYL space on your prescription, then you have no astigmatism. In that case, you should enter 0.00 for the Cylindrical and Axis values.
Pupillary Distance (PD) refers to the distance between your pupils' centers and determines where you look through your glasses lens. This value must be accurate (the average adult's single PD is between 54-74 mm; kids' are between 43-58 mm).

How should I care for my sunglasses?
Sunglasses can maintain their new look for a long time with proper care. To keep them spotless, gently clean them with a lens cleaning cloth and a cleaner specifically designed for eyewear. Avoid using paper products, which can scratch the lenses, and steer clear of detergents or soaps that may damage the lens coatings. Always store your sunglasses in a protective case when not in use to prevent scratches and other damage.
What does polarized sunglasses mean?
If you spend a lot of time outdoors or are sensitive to light, polarized sunglasses are a great choice. They effectively block glare reflected off flat, light-colored surfaces, reducing eye strain and discomfort in bright conditions. These advanced lenses also enhance vision clarity and make colors appear more vivid.
What are the benefits of gradient lenses?
Gradient tint lenses fade from a darker to a lighter tint to protect your eyes from harmful UV exposure while still giving you a convenient vision.
The dark upper part of the lenses shields your eyes, while the lighter middle and lower parts allow you to comfortably see through them. Also, if you're not a fan of fully black lenses but still want to look sophisticated, gradient lenses come in all colors! Talk about the best of both worlds!
What is the purpose of sunglasses' lens colors?
Sunglasses not only make a bold fashion statement with their lens colors but also protect your eyes by filtering harmful UV light. When selecting tinted sunglasses, consider your lifestyle and needs. Some lens tints enhance color vibrancy and brightness, while others reduce glare, soften harsh light and improve visual clarity.
Green
Greenish-colored lenses filter out blue light and reduce glare in bright sunlight, making them ideal for daily wear and precision sports like golf.
Gray
Gray lenses effectively reduce glare, especially near water, and shield your eyes from bright light. Their versatility makes them suitable for both sunny and cloudy days, making them an excellent choice for driving and outdoor sports.
Blue or purple
These colors are not only aesthetically pleasing and complementary to all skin tones, but they also enhance edge definition and improve color perception, especially in foggy or misty conditions.
Red or rose
Rosy tints block blue light and reduce eye strain, enhancing visibility and making details appear sharper. This makes them an excellent choice for driving.
Yellow, orange, or gold
Light-colored lenses are perfect for moderate to low-light conditions. They enhance clarity and visibility while blocking blue light, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor activities.

Who can wear contact lenses?
Everyone can wear contact lenses, regardless of age, prescription, or lifestyle. As long as you're comfortable with applying and removing them, there's no reason not to try them. Just be sure to consult your ophthalmologist to confirm that contact lenses are a suitable option for you.
Does wearing contact lenses cause eye problems?
Wearing contact lenses is very safe as long as you adhere to your ophthalmologist's instructions on care, wear duration and replacement frequency.
Can I wear contact lenses while playing sports?
Yes, you definitely can. Ophthalmologists often recommend them for their safety and advantages over eyeglasses. Contacts offer clear vision without frames obstructing your view, are less likely to fall out, and allow for easy use with headgear or goggles.
Are there contact lenses available for Astigmatism?
Yes, contact lenses designed to correct astigmatism are called Toric lenses. These lenses are specifically crafted to address vision problems caused by an irregularly shaped cornea.
How do I care for my contact lenses?
Proper care is essential to maintain eye health and comfort. Here’s how to do it:
- Clean and disinfect each lens every time you remove it.
- Adhere to the recommended replacement schedule for your lenses.
- When handling your contact lenses, wash your hands with a mild, non-perfumed, non-oily soap to avoid eye irritation.
- Always use a disinfecting solution, eye drops, and enzymatic cleaners when cleaning and storing your contact lenses.
- To clean each contact lens, rub it gently with your index finger in the palm of your hand to remove surface buildup.
- You must clean your lens case every time you use it with a sterile solution and let it air dry (the case should be replaced every 3 months).
Can I change my eye color with contact lenses?
Yes. Color contact lenses are designed to enhance/change your natural eye color. If you need vision correction, prescription-colored contacts are also available.
Do I need to see an eye doctor first if I want to start wearing contact lenses?
Since contact lenses are medical devices, it is crucial to have your eyes examined by an eye doctor to ensure they are suitable for you. The doctor can then provide a prescription for your contact lenses.
How much do contact lenses cost?
The cost of contact lenses varies depending on the type of contact lenses you're buying, their brand, their replacement schedule, and the number of lenses you purchase.
Can I sleep while wearing contact lenses?
Redness, irritation, and dryness are common if you wear contact lenses while sleeping. To prevent these issues, remove your contacts before going to bed or taking a nap to give your eyes a break and allow your cornea to breathe.
What are the different types of contact lenses?
Here are different types of contact lenses:
- Soft contact lenses come in two primary forms: daily wear and extended wear. They're made from thin material and water.
- Daily-wear soft lenses are the most comfortable and are available in a variety of tinted colors too. Extended-wear soft lenses offer the same advantages as daily-wear lenses. They can be worn for an extended period (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or yearly).
- Hard contact lenses offer a clearer vision with certain eye conditions - Bifocal lenses, Toric lenses, etc.
How long does it take to get used to contact lenses?
Adjusting to contact lenses can take time and may feel a bit uncomfortable initially. However, the clarity they provide is well worth it! The adjustment period can range from one day to two weeks, depending on the individual, prescription type, and brand of lenses.
How often should I replace my contact lenses?
To keep your eyes healthy and comfortable, it's crucial to replace your contact lenses regularly. Be aware of your lenses' lifespan and change them as needed. Remember, all contact lenses should be removed and stored in fresh solution each night.
- Daily Disposable contact lenses: These lenses need to be tossed out after one day of wear (at the end of the day), so there’s no need to remember to replace them.
- Weekly/bi-weekly disposable contact lenses: These lenses need to be replaced after a week (if they're weekly lenses) /two weeks (if they are bi-weekly lenses) of wear.
- Monthly disposable contact lenses: These lenses need to be replaced every 30 days (if they are monthly lenses) or quarterly (if they were 90-day lenses).
Even if you don’t wear your contacts every day, you still need to follow the suggested replacement schedule.
Is it safe to share my contact lenses with others?
It’s crucial not to share contact lenses with anyone. Using someone else’s lenses or letting others use yours can spread infections and cause serious eye complications.
